The Challenge

Rubber and flexible components take a beating. Conveyor belts tear, drive rollers lose their lagging, seals perish, and rubber-lined equipment abrades until the substrate is exposed. Because these parts flex and move, rigid repairs crack and fall out — and full replacement often means stripping equipment, sending parts out for re-vulcanising, and days of lost production waiting on a return.

Damaged rubber is found across every plant with materials handling, sealing, or fluid-transfer equipment — from torn belt covers and worn pulley lagging to split expansion joints, perished seals, and delaminated tank linings. Where the component must keep flexing, a repair has to move with it or it simply will not last.

Belzona's cold-applied elastomeric materials cure to a tough, flexible rubber that bonds tenaciously to rubber, metal, and many other substrates. They rebuild worn profiles, fill gouges and tears, and re-bond delaminated linings in place — no heat, no vulcanising press, no removal. Rumford Industrial Group applies these systems on-site across five states so flexible components go back to work fast.

Solutions in the Field
What We Repair & Rebuild
Conveyor BeltsRebuild torn covers, gouges, and impact damage, and re-bond delaminated splices to extend belt life.
Pulleys & Roller LaggingRe-lag worn drive and tail pulleys with a flexible, high-grip surface to restore traction and reduce slip.
Seals & GasketsRebuild perished or damaged rubber seals, wiper strips, and profiles where off-the-shelf spares are unavailable.
Expansion Joints & BellowsRepair splits and pinholes in flexible joints and bellows without removing them from the line.
Rubber LiningsRe-bond and patch delaminated or gouged rubber linings in tanks, chutes, and pipework in situ.
Fenders, Hoses & BuoysFill, seal, and rebuild damaged marine fenders, floating hoses, and elastomeric components exposed to weather and impact.
Belzona Solutions for This Challenge
Flexible Elastomer Rebuild
Cold-cure rubber compounds that rebuild worn and torn flexible components to their original profile with high abrasion resistance.
Rubber & Belt Bonding
Adhesive systems that re-bond delaminated belt splices, linings, and rubber-to-metal joints without a vulcanising press.
Abrasion-Resistant Lining
Flexible, resilient linings that protect chutes, hoppers, and pipework against sliding and impact wear from bulk solids.
Fast-Cure Emergency Repair
Rapid-setting elastomers that seal splits and tears in flexible components to keep equipment running until a planned outage.
Seal & Joint Repair
Materials formulated to rebuild perished seals, wiper strips, and expansion joints where spares are hard to source.
Roller & Pulley Lagging
High-grip flexible coatings that re-lag worn pulleys to restore traction and reduce belt slip and mistracking.
How It Works
01
Assess the DamageThe component, its movement, and operating conditions are assessed to select a material with the right flexibility, adhesion, and chemical resistance for the job.
02
Surface PreparationThe area is cleaned and abraded to expose a sound, keyed surface. A conditioner or primer is used where needed to maximise adhesion to rubber and metal.
03
Build & RebuildThe elastomer is applied by trowel, brush, or spreader to fill tears, rebuild worn profiles, and re-bond delaminated sections back to shape.
04
Flexible CureThe material cures at ambient temperature to a tough, resilient rubber that flexes with the component instead of cracking under movement.
05
Return to ServiceOnce cured, the repair carries load and flexes with the part — restoring function in hours rather than the days a re-vulcanised replacement would take.
