The Challenge

In Data Centers, every minute of unplanned downtime is extraordinarily costly and traditional repairs that require shutting down cooling systems or pulling equipment offline are often impossible when a parallel train must keep carrying the load. Constant heat generation, humidity cycling, and condensation attack chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, and cooling towers continuously, driving galvanic corrosion, erosion-corrosion, and leaks in systems that can rarely be fully de-energized for repair.

Across chiller water boxes, CRAC and CRAH units, cooling towers, raised floors, and chilled water piping, galvanic corrosion, erosion-corrosion, and condensation cycling steadily degrade the equipment that keeps a data center running. These repairs often have to happen while the white space stays energized and cooling systems remain online, since taking a system fully offline risks the uptime the entire facility is built to protect.

Belzona's cold-cure composites and coatings rebuild and protect chillers, air handling units, and cooling infrastructure in place, sealing live leaks under flow and applying without hot work, flame, or extended shutdowns. Rumford Industrial Group brings this capability, and the technical support to plan it, to data center operators across five states.

Belzona Solutions for the Data Centers Industry
Chillers & Heat Exchangers
Water boxes, tube sheets, end covers, and flange faces suffer galvanic corrosion at the carbon-steel-to-copper-tube interface, along with water-side erosion-corrosion as equipment ages. Belzona 1111 (Super Metal) and 1121 (Super XL-Metal) rebuild metal loss in place, topped with Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal) for erosion-resistant protection rated to 60°C — all while a parallel chiller train keeps carrying the cooling load.
CRAC & CRAH Units
Condensation cycling on chilled coils and casing surfaces drives internal corrosion in computer room air conditioning and air handling units. Belzona 5811 (Immersion Grade) protects internal surfaces exposed to condensate, while Belzona 5831 (ST-Barrier) applies directly to damp substrates without waiting for equipment to fully dry out.
Cooling Towers
Basin internals and joints suffer constant water exposure, corrosion, and seam failure. Belzona's cold-applied coatings and sealing systems restore joints and protect internal surfaces without draining or shutting down tower operation.
Chilled & Condenser Water Piping
Pressurized chilled water and condenser water loops develop leaks that can't wait for a shutdown to repair. Composite wrap systems seal live leaks under flow, restoring pipe integrity without interrupting the pressurized loop that keeps cooling online.
Raised Floors & Walkways
Raised floor pedestals, slabs, and access areas wear from constant foot and equipment traffic in the white space. Belzona 5231 (SG Laminate) provides a low-odor raised floor coating suited to occupied server environments, paired with Belzona 4411 (Granogrip) for anti-slip protection on ramps and platforms.
Fans & Air Handling
Cooling tower and air handling fan blades lose efficiency from erosion and surface wear. Belzona 1341 (Supermetalglide) restores and finishes fan blades to maintain airflow efficiency.
