Belzona has been developing polymeric repair composites and protective coatings since 1952, and today operates one of the largest distributor networks in the industrial repair industry — over 160 distributors across more than 120 countries, each staffed with factory-trained technical consultants.
Rumford Industrial Group is the exclusive authorized Belzona distributor for Southwest Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, and Southern Illinois — meaning every product, technical recommendation, and training program we provide is backed directly by Belzona's global engineering and R&D team, delivered through a local team who knows your equipment and shows up on-site.
Belzona was founded in 1952 in Elland, West Yorkshire, by Danish entrepreneur Jorgen Svendsen, originally as a corrosion protection business. In 1957, the company relocated to Harrogate, North Yorkshire — still its headquarters today — and began pioneering the cold-applied polymer technology that would define the brand: repair composites and protective coatings that restore and protect equipment without welding, heat, or full replacement.
What started as a single product line grew into a global distributor network, beginning with the first international distributors in the 1960s and expanding into North America, South America, and Asia through the following decades. Rumford Industrial Group joined that network in 1980, becoming the Great Lakes Region distributor for Belzona's repair compounds and protective coatings.
Belzona continues to invest heavily in research and development from its Harrogate Technology Centre, developing solutions for increasingly demanding applications — from high-temperature immersion coatings to peelable flange protection systems. Today, Belzona's products reach customers through a network of more than 160 distributors in over 120 countries, backed by more than 75 years of materials science and real-world repair experience.
In January 2010, Belzona demonstrated the outstanding performance of Belzona 1251 (HA-Metal) by suspending a Mercedes SL500 AMG above a Mercedes S320 LCDI.
The material was applied to a connecting joint only 75mm in diameter and cured immediately prior to the lift. With the Mercedes weighing over 2.2 tonnes and a minimal amount of adhesive, it demonstrated that the HA-Metal is able to carry over 1.8 million times its own weight.
