Corroded Potable Water Tank Rebuilt & Relined

Challenge

A hot potable water storage tank in a facility mechanical room had reached the point where its internal coating had broken down. Rust was bleeding through the lining along the floor-to-wall seam and around fittings, and the steel beneath was pitted, putting the stored water and the tank itself at risk.

Belzona Solution

Rumford Industrial Group repaired the tank in place with Belzona. The interior was prepared, and the pitted areas were filled and rebuilt with Belzona 1111 (Super Metal) to restore a sound, even surface. The whole interior was then relined with Belzona 5892, an NSF 61 approved lining for hot potable water, applied in place without removing the tank from the mechanical room.

  • Belzona 1111 (Super Metal)
  • Belzona 5892

Result

The pitting was rebuilt and the tank now has a continuous, NSF 61 approved lining for hot potable water, returning it to service without the cost and disruption of replacing it.
