Challenge
Pump was headed for the scrapyard — severe full-body corrosion, badly eroded cutwater, damaged wear-ring seat, and flange damage.
Belzona Solution
Rumford showed the utility how the pump could be repaired rather than scrapped — and how, with records kept correctly, the rebuilt asset could keep producing income. All four problem areas (full-body corrosion, the eroded cutwater, the wear-ring seat, and the flange face) were rebuilt with Belzona 1111 (Super Metal). The rebuilt internals were then coated with Belzona 1341 (Supermetalglide), a hydrophobic coating that converts turbulent flow into laminar flow to cut energy consumption.
- Belzona 1111 (Super Metal)
- Belzona 1341 (Supermetalglide)
Result
Approximately 5% reduction in electrical consumption. Both Belzona 1111 and Belzona 1341 are NSF/ANSI 61 approved for potable water. Asset saved from scrap and returned to service.
