Challenge
A metal shredder shaft was badly worn at its bearing/seal area. Pulling the shaft out to weld and machine it was quoted at about $10,000 with roughly a week of downtime.
Belzona Solution
The worn shaft area was rebuilt in place with a Belzona metal repair composite applied against a mold former, restoring the original diameter and profile without removal, welding, or machining.
- Belzona 1111 (Super Metal)
- Belzona 9411 (Release Agent)
Result
Repair cost about $7,000 against a $10,000 replacement route — roughly $3,000 saved — and the shredder returned to service in one day instead of a week. Additional details to follow.
