About Rumford Industrial Group
Jim Rumford began his industrial sales career with Eutectic Welding Corporation of Flushing, NY in 1964.
In the late 1960s Jim studied Marketing at Wright State University and also taught basic metallurgy and tool & die welding as a college professor at Progress Tech Apprentice School in Dayton, OH.
Drawing upon his expertise in welding, Jim founded Rumford Industrial Group in 1980 and became the Great Lakes region distributor for Belzona polymeric repair compounds and industrial protective coatings. Rumford Industrial Group began as many great American companies have; in a garage.
The garage served as a warehouse and a laundry room was pressed into service as an office. Within a year, the business moved into a secretarial service office as the expansion continued. 1984 saw the business move to an office/warehouse in Centerville, Ohio where it remained until 2013.
Belzona’s founder, JS Svendsen, helped Jim expand his initial exclusive territory to include most of Southwest Ohio, Indiana and Southern Illinois. In 1990, Kentucky was added to his primary market area and Michigan was added in 1993. After 33 years in business, Jim decided a new facility was necessary to keep up with expansion. This state of the art facility is used for education and training of our technical consultants, contractors, and valued business partners such as engineers, architects, and industry leaders.
Jim celebrated 50 years in Industrial sales in 2014 and he and the entire Rumford Industrial Group are looking forward to serving industry’s needs for another 50 years.
