| Belzona® 1812 (Ceramic Carbide FP) has recently reached its 500
thousand ton marker on a Joy Continuous Miner wear application where the customer states the coal has only “polished the coating”. No wear has been detected.
 Traditionally this customer has used welding/hard facing to fight abrasion. This test is currently in process at an underground coal mine in Kentucky comparing Belzona®'s 1812 (Ceramic Carbide FP) vs. welding/hard facing. The first miner was blasted and coated by our application company, Composite Industrial Group (CompositeIndustrial.com) and has been in service for 8 months and over 500
thousand tons! The customer made the comment at the beginning of April, when we were coating a second miner, that Belzona® had already extended the life of the miner “because the hard facing doesn't last that long”. The miner will be coming out of service around December and we will then be able to put a dollar figure on how much Belzona® 1812 is saving the two million ($2,000,000) dollar machine in downtime costs.
